Suvanna Patana 2, RN
Suvanna truly changed the course of my life and continues to impact my family in ways I will never forget.
About 10 years ago, my father was in the ICU here at Glendale Adventist Hospital during the final moments of his life. In one of the most painful times of my life, Suvanna was there. She is not just a nurse, but also a source of comfort, strength, and compassion. She gently explained what was happening, helped create space for our emotions, and made sure my father passed peacefully with dignity and love.
What touched me even more was that her care did not stop when her shift ended. She even came to my father's funeral. That act of kindness stayed with me forever. In that moment, I knew I wanted to become a nurse like her. Because of her, I went back to school and worked hard to become an ICU nurse.
Fast forward to this year, my mother was admitted to the ICU in the same hospital room. I unexpectedly saw Suvanna again. It felt like fate. I was emotional seeing her after all these years, and I told her how she inspired me to become who I am today. I also shared my worries about my mom's condition.
That night, she didn't just care for her, my mom. She sat with her, educated her, comforted her, and made sure she did not feel alone. The next day, my mom was like a different person. She is more aware, more hopeful, and smiles again. Seeing that transformation brought tears to my eyes.
This nurse, Suvanna, is more than phenomenal. She is unforgettable. She doesn't just care for patients; she touches lives, inspires futures, and brings light into the darkest moments. I am living proof of her impact. She is the kind of nurse every patient hopes for, and every nurse aspires to be.
Suvanna also exemplified what it truly means to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. She is not only phenomenal, but she is also life-changing.
