Suzie responded to what she thought was a standard rapid response. What she came across was nothing of the sort.
Nurse Suzanne Coyle, a member of Abington Hospital's newly created department, the Rapid Response Team, is responsible for saving the life of one of our own; a fellow staff nurse.
During the course of her night shift, Suzie responded to what she thought was a standard rapid response. What she came across was nothing of the sort. After rounding the corner, the team was presented with a fellow nurse, crouched on the hallway floor, clearly in significant distress. This staff nurse was experiencing a critical anaphylactic reaction, was having significant trouble breathing, and could barely speak. It was Suzie's fast coordination of resources and even quicker actions, that allowed the necessary life-saving care to take place.
