Suzanne Giglio, RN, is a nurse in St. Charles Hospital's Medically Supervised Detoxification Unit. Suzanne was nominated for the DAISY Award by her coworkers and patients, who recognized her for her ability to anticipate patient's needs and her concern for their dignity.
One patient explained, saying, "A lot of us in detox are going through a difficult time. Suzanne seems to know how to calm us down when we get riled up. She does not treat us like little kids; she treats us like the adults that we are."
Another patient noted, "Suzanne did an amazing job of making it look easy to pay close attention to all of my concerns while having a million things to do. And with the condition I was in at the time, it was very nice to feel like somebody cared."
Suzanne's competence and compassion are hallmarks of her approach to nursing care, making her an excellent choice as a DAISY Award honoree.
