Sydney is an amazing employee and teammate. She has not only made herself invaluable to our team at ESJH, but she has also made a profound impact on her patients. Though there are many, one specific example comes to mind. We recently had a patient who underwent a large surgery resulting in the need for extensive wound care and the placement of a diverting colostomy. Sydney directed the wound and ostomy care of this patient with frequent visits, dressing changes, and ostomy teaching sessions. As the clinician/patient relationship progressed, Sydney began to learn the complexity of the patient's situation. Sydney took it upon herself to research clinics and resources located in the patient's area and relayed these resources to the patient and team. Using her knowledge and experience, Sydney was able to acquire sufficient products for the patient's wound and ostomy needs. To say Sydney went above and beyond for this patient is an understatement. She was always thinking about how to maximize the patient's outcomes and set the patient up for success. Sydney is a natural leader and demonstrates compassion and authentic caring nature to all her patients. This has endeared her to not only us but her patients as well.
