Sydney received a phone call from a veteran in crisis while she was working her regularly scheduled shift on the Inpatient Mental Health Unit. Sydney stayed on the phone with the veteran, providing them guidance, encouragement, and directions on how to get help. Not only this, but she discussed with the veteran immediate safety needs and made certain that the veteran was not alone. Sydney displayed incredible commitment, advocacy, and excellence in the way she handled the call, showing grace and care while ensuring the veteran's safety and security. Sydney, despite being a relatively new nurse, demonstrates incredible clinical acumen, particularly as an inpatient psychiatric nurse. Through her example, she inspires and motivates me as well as others to be better nurses on our unit.
