Sydney is a gift to Baylor Scott and White the Heart Hospital. From the moment I met her, her spirit has been contagious. There is a confidence, genuine concern, and loving approach that makes her stand out. I am on day 10 here for having mitral valve prolapse surgery and in heart block type 3. I missed Christmas with the girls (11 and 8) and missed bringing in the new year. However, I am also blessed to have found this leak and have the talented Dr. S surgery team fix my heart. However, 10 days in a room can bring a ton of emotions as you feel grateful yet trapped.

Sydney continued to be my advocate and made me feel that, despite being so small, I was making progress daily. This person shared the extreme excitement of going outside for fresh air with me on day 7. This person listened to me when I desperately wanted to speak to Dr. G about my care when Dr. S was out. This person showed up for me when I was told I could not shower, and we found a solution. This person was and is an extension to me as a patient and just not an employee of Baylor. Sydney set the bar for all nurses to be up for their patients. Sydney is a leader in life.
