My mother-in-law was a DNR patient and we understood death was imminent. Nurse Sydney provided specific nurturing. She took on an additional shift to care for her knowing her time was limited. She provided a continuity of care and nurturing and her kindness and spirit were evident throughout the 3 days my mother-in-law was in CCU. She was consistent and professional with the medical procedures prescribed. She engaged her and 12 family members who gathered for her last days.
The entire family considered Sydney a godsend of support to my mother-in-law and us. Sydney made the difference with her supportive care for my mother-in-law who was put at ease and comforted by Sydney's posturing warmth.
