We brought our trans child (age 20) to the ED. While prepping our child, the nurse addressed our child as "he." This was after checking him in by his legal name. I watched my child's heart rate drop to a normal level after this exchange with this nominee then went on with a very nice conversation, small talk. Being kind isn't hard, but it is important, and Sydney was very kind.
