Sylvie was incredibly genuine in her reassuring, and compassionate care of both myself and my husband during this both exciting and terrifying time.
I was very overwhelmed waiting to be admitted into L&D amid Covid protocols, as I was alone and in tremendous amounts of pain. Once I was officially admitted and brought to the suite, my husband was allowed into the building and we had the pleasure of meeting Sylvie. Sylvie was the instant calm in the storm. She was incredibly genuine in her reassuring, and compassionate care of both myself and my husband during this both exciting and terrifying time. Although ultimately we had a perfectly healthy baby boy we had two hiccups during the process. My blood pressure dropped following the epidural which required intervention and bleeding more than anticipated following delivery. As both my husband and I are in the medical field, myself a nurse, and my husband a paramedic we did not have the pleasure of being blissfully unaware of things that were going on. Although we were very aware of what was going on, and rightfully stressed and scared we knew we were in good hands. Sylvie was calm, assured, and ready to respond to the ever-changing process of labor. When I found out Sylvie would not be back the next day, I quite literally cried. We are just one of the, I'm sure hundreds if not more labors she's been a part of, but she was such an integral part of our labor journey and I know she has been for so many others as well. Our baby was lucky to have Sylvie there to help bring him into this world and if we are blessed with more children in the future I would be both grateful and relieved to have Sylvie by my side.
