Tabatha was the primary nurse for a patient and her family while she was being treated for a terminal disease. This family often told Tabatha that she was a part of their family because of the compassionate care she provided. She made this whole family feel cared for and helped them through the transition of making their loved one a hospice patient.

Every time Tabatha worked, she cared for this family. The patient passed away in hospice care at our facility, and Tabatha was there with them to help navigate this time with compassion and kindness.

Weeks after this hospital stay, Tabatha was grocery shopping and saw the patient's husband at the store. He stopped to speak with her and told her how much he appreciated her care and added he felt like she was family after being there with them during this journey. He told Tabatha how much he missed his wife and how he was learning to navigate the world without her. He seemed to be having a hard time with a task that to most of us was an everyday errand, but now to him was a reminder of what he had lost and another part of the day he was navigating alone.

Tabatha stayed with him and helped him shop, talking with him and keeping him company. She is truly meant to be in the field of nursing, she is caring and kind and makes a positive difference in the lives she touches here at work and in the community.
