Tabbie's patient had been found in his home along with his wife, who had already passed away. The patient was brought to University Hospital and was unable to attend his wife's memorial service. Tabbie went above and beyond to stage a memorial service at the hospital — even ensuring the patient got a haircut and had dress clothes to wear to the service.
"Tabbie drove to the hospital on her off day and took this patient down to the chapel so that he could have his own memorial service to mourn the loss of his wife," the nomination said. "She handled this situation with the utmost grace and courage so her patient could receive the closure he needed after his traumatic loss."
In addition to caring for this patient, the nomination also praised Tabbie for being a role model and leader on her team. "Tabbie is one of the nurses I look up to the most. She is my second set of eyes, my sounding board for advice and the level head when situations arise on the unit."
Congratulations, Tabbie!
