We received a new patient to the floor who was actively dying. The patient was only on our unit for 3 hours before she passed away. As soon as she arrived, Takasha only left her side for brief moments to check on her other patients. The patient had no family in the room and Takasha tried to contact multiple family members, with no answer. She made sure she was there with this patient, so she would not die alone. We watched her rub the patient's head and hold her hand. Watching her comfort this patient in their last moments, gave me reassurance in the nursing profession.
Takasha remained with the patient until she took her last breath. We witnessed her go above and beyond to provide the utmost care to this patient.
