My dad had a very unexpected cardiac arrest with massive PE. I was in San Francisco at the time, ready to start my 12-hour nursing shift, when I got the call he was being placed on ECMO at Harrisburg. Talena was the first person I spoke to via phone, and she was so thorough and compassionate in updating me before my 6-hour flight to get to my dad. I met her in person that evening at the hospital. She involved me as much as she could in knowing each step of my dad's care. She was also there a week later when he was taken off life support. He wasn't even her patient that day. She is such an amazing nurse and kind soul, as a fellow nurse her skill and compassion made such an impact on our whole family. The ECMO specialist also deserves kudos because she may be the kindest healthcare provider I've ever met. She brought us all such comfort in a terrible time. Both of these ladies are just great, great people and such skilled clinicians. My dad would have really liked both of them.
