January 2024 Honoree
Talor Garcia, BSN, RN
Talor had a patient who was diagnosed with respiratory failure. Her O2 demands were increasing and ultimately the patient went on comfort measures. Talor was the one that initiated the Morphine drip and the patient ended up passing on her shift. While this is something we witness frequently, what she did after the patient passed really showed how caring and compassionate she is as a nurse. Talor recently had a family member pass, and that nurse did something for her family that she really took to heart, and therefore, she felt compelled to do it for this patient’s family. She got the EKG strips from the patient’s last beats and placed them in a gift bag and ribbon. The family was so touched and thankful that she took it upon herself to give that piece of the patient for them to keep. Talor was embraced with so much love and hugs from the family. They literally felt like they couldn’t thank her enough for this caring act.
Thank you, Talor, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
