Dr. Rutledge is a valued faculty member in the Department of Nursing at the University of North Georgia. Her teaching philosophy is "meaningful learning occurs when students are actively engaged in experiences that bridge theory and practice through simulation, reflection, and evidence-based teaching." Dr. Rutledge was nominated for the DAISY Award for Nurse Educators by several nursing students who praised her teaching and mentoring. A common theme in her nominations was the profound impact she is having on future nurses, as evidenced by the following:

In addition to teaching at the University of North Georgia, Dr. Rutledge practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a north Atlanta OB/GYN practice where she delivers comprehensive and compassionate women's health and prenatal care.
