During my recent visit for a broken nose and forehead lacerations, my face was still covered with dried blood following surgery. While others overlooked this, the nurse noticed and took action. Despite it being close to shift change, the nurse would not let me leave without ensuring I was cared for with dignity. The nurse kindly offered to clean the dried blood from my face and did so with compassion and respect. This simple but powerful act.
