What can I say about Tamiko Martinez that you don’t already know? My husband was nervous, and scared, had covid, had a hard time breathing, and was moved in the middle of the night. The next day he was to have a bronchial scope which was canceled right before being done in the endoscopy suite. His oxygen had dropped to 82% and it was considered too dangerous for the test to be done, and instead, the doctor decided to try another antibiotic. He felt like he was going to die and I was numb with panic and grief. When we returned to the floor, Tamiko met us in the hall and had new meds and what she needed for his care already with her. She did everything she could to comfort my husband and give him hope that he was going to get better. I believed that she kept him from having a panic attack which would have made the situation worse. Tamiko went far above and beyond what her job required. She actually took my grief into account. She calmed me down, and she was empathetic at a time when I needed a friend the most. Tamiko has a true calling for being a nurse. She realizes that not only do her patients need her but their families matter as well. She is what true nursing is about and I will always be grateful and thankful for her skills and caring nature. Everyone is blessed to have her on the floor.
