Tammy was working one night when another nurse's patient had an episode of anxiety - elevated heart rate, difficulty breathing, and feeling as if he was not going to make it through the night. Tammy went down to that patient's room to see if she could comfort him. She sat on the side of his bed and talked to him and held his hand. She helped him feel less anxious. None of his family was able to stay with him that night so she called his daughter to let him talk to her and assured him that he was going to be okay. She listened to him, cried with him, and showed him that he was not alone. Before she left he asked her to pray with him - and she did just that.
Tammy touched me - a nurse and friend, more than she will know. She demonstrated what being a nurse is. She showed care, compassion, and love to someone that truly needed her at the time.

Thank you, Tamizina, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
