Every day is a new day for all of us, none of us knowing what it will be like, or contain. For me, I was brought to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, and it was there I met my nurse, Tammi. This woman is a gift to humanity that we all could take some clues from. She has the most delightful personality that puts the patient at ease during such a stressful situation that we find ourselves in. She answers all your questions and has no false pride about not knowing something, she simply says she will be back, she is off to find out. She has a gentle mannerism in dealing with you but manages to get everything handled and done. She remembers, which always makes one feel more validated, more truly cared for, and this is important when one is ill. She takes extra steps to see through your time there, she even stays longer than necessary, spilling over onto her own time to ensure your comfort. Tammi always appeared quick thinking, astute to what’s around her, which leaves the patient feeling a sense of confidence that is hard to come by in a hospitalized situation. She always has a cheery attitude and was always offering that warm smile of hers that said the most important thing you could say to a patient, "I care". In these terrible times, we are all living through I hope my words reach you, that you hear the truth of them, and that you are left inspired to honor Tammi as a DAISY Nurse.
