For extraordinary care, professionalism, insightful institution, and sage counsel, I will be forever indebted and grateful to my Nurse Case Manager, Ms. Tammy Masse. Her efforts to help me over the past 2 years as I have endeavored to heal from my deployment back injuries were superb!
I came into the Wounded Warrior program in 2017. Struggling to walk as I redeployed from Kuwait and deplaned at Ft Bliss. An MRI showed that I had re-herniated my back, an injury originally sustained in Afghanistan in 2014. Asking the Army for help, I was put into the Community Care Program to get care up in Maine which teamed me Navy personnel at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in NH just prior to my wife's third cancer surgery.
The Navy team has been exceptional. Put under the care of Ms. Tammy Masse for all Nurse case matters, Ms. Tammy has time and time again shown remarkable organizational skills, a knack for drawing keen insights into complex medical conditions, and an ability to navigate across Army and Navy systems and bureaucracies, all while minimizing our stress exposure and calming my wife who is prone to excessive worry.
As we move into retirement, the VA and post service health care introduced new challenges that added to a stressful time and transition, yet is one more area Ms. Tammy mastered. My Army briefing got me to a certain level of knowledge, yet she always manages to add another layer on top. It is truly extraordinary. Her span of skills, her knowledge, her dedication, her attention to detail, all were magnificent.
Working with this Navy care team has been my first prolonged experience working with Navy personnel. If Ms. Tammy and my doctor are emblematic of most Navy personnel, the Army is well behind in human capital development, and I tip my hat to the Navy and the extraordinary professionalism, care, and attention I experienced from this wonderful medical team at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, for it reflects up and down the chain that leaders engaged and generating phenomenal results at the point of delivery inpatient care.
I am honored to express our gratitude to PNSY care team with special emphasis on Ms. Tammy Masse.
