My husband and I came to Bellin for a scheduled induction for our first baby.  We had Tammy as our nurse that night.  She was amazing! Once contractions began, our baby's heart rate started to drop.  Tammy was the exact nurse I wanted by my side.  She talked us through what was happening and the things we were going to do to try and help.  After a long night, a C-section was determined to be the safest option.  Although we wanted a safe and healthy delivery, we were terrified.  Tammy was a hand to hold and the calming force I needed.  She ended up being our biggest advocate, too.  As we were about to wheel out the door to the OR, she noticed our baby's heart rate starting to stabilize and advocated for them to wait.  Because of her, I was able to continue laboring in my room.

Shannon was our day shift nurse.  She had the calming personality I needed during a long labor and delivery.  Our son needed aid from the NICU team after delivery, and Shannon was there to reassure us that everything would be okay and that he was in great hands, which he was. My husband and I are forever grateful to everyone who helped care for our son, C, that night.  We had to spend time in the NICU after delivery, and Tammy came in the next day to check on all of us. I was so thankful for that, and those little acts go a long way for a new mom!
