Two years ago, on one of the worst days of my life, I woke up from anesthesia to Tammy's smiling face and caring heart. I had found out that I had a miscarriage the week before hurricane Irma, with heavy hearts we waited for "nature to take its course", as the doctor described.
A few days after Irma, nature did just that. Emotionally and physically distraught, I called Dr. Y and told him I could not handle it anymore. It was 7 PM, he told me he would meet me at the hospital, and we would do a D&C. The care that I received that night was wonderful. From the ER Staff to my anesthesia, to the entire OR crew - everyone was kind.
Nobody wants to be called into work, away from their family. I was grateful to all who took care of me. But I was heartbroken when I woke up, I was sad, empty, and drained. But there was Tammy, holding my hands, smiling at me and saying, "You are going to be okay." She prayed with me. She went above and beyond making sure that I was comfortable and able to rest. It was about midnight before she took me to be discharged. She is truly an example of how a nurse should be.
Every time I see her, she is caring for other patients exactly the way she cared for me. She has an exceptional attitude and caring nature.
