Tammy was an amazing nurse to work with. As a male nursing student, there is a stigma that needs to be overcome before patients are willing to allow us to participate in their care. On the day I was on post-partum for clinical, all of the patients were "no students." Tammy advocated for my education and spoke with the patients in order to get their approval. Throughout the day, Tammy was extremely patient and helpful with anything I needed. During the assessment, she went step by step explained how, why, and for what we were assessing. Tammy also volunteered for a peds admit post-surgical patient, so that I could gain from the experience. It was not her turn to take a patient, but she went above and beyond to make sure I was able to get the most from my clinical experience.
