Tammy Surface is responsible for calling surgical patients to confirm arrival time for procedures. During these phone calls to our patients, Tammy always makes a personal connection with each patient. During a recent phone call to a patient, the patient told Tammy he would need to cancel his procedure. Instead of just accepting the request to cancel the procedure, Tammy went above and beyond and discovered that this patient could not afford the bowel prep for the procedure.
Tammy took it upon herself to call the patient's primary care provider to see what pharmacy the patient used. She called the pharmacy and purchased the bowel prep for the patient. Tammy stated: "I'd hate for someone to possibly have cancer and not know it because they can't afford their bowel prep." Tammy also has gone a step further and is investigating how to provide bowel preps to our patients who cannot afford them. This is just one example of Tammy going above and beyond for our patients!
