Tammy showed this family undeniable kindness and empathy during a very scary time when they felt they had nowhere to turn and no options left.
It was brought to my attention that there was a dog tied up outside the facility on Thursday night. Upon investigation, I found that this dog was lying on its owner's coat, it had food and water and looked well cared for. It took a bit of time to identify whom the dog belonged to and we narrowed it down to a med surg patient and his wife. Come to find out this couple and their dog are homeless. While trying to buy a little time to figure out some long term solutions, we found a little hideaway to place sweet "Hank" so he was out of the way of construction crews and out of sight of the street traffic so as to not draw attention to him and hopefully people would leave him alone while we figured something else out.
Then an angel appeared from Day Surgery by the name of Tammy. When I was explaining the situation and how I was trying to find somewhere incognito to place "Hank" for the time being and wondered about a long-term solution for this couple regarding their sweet fur baby, Tammy without hesitation, volunteered to temporarily foster Hank at her home. She stated that she was familiar with the couple as she was present in day surgery the day the patient had to have his unexpected surgery and she has a history of running a rescue for dogs in her past.
When I told the patient's wife of Tammy's gracious offer to take care of her fur baby for a few days while they figured out a plan, she began to cry with gratitude. She stated how blessed she was to know that he was going to be cared for and that was one thing she could take off her plate for the time being while she worked on a solution for a place for them to live.

While I am not sure what this is going to look like or how this is going to work out, her willingness to help out was so appreciated and we need more Tammys in this world!
