My mother was in the CCU and Tammy Towles was her nurse for 3 days. Tammy's compassion for my mother and our family helped us as we adjusted to the various phases of Mom's hospitalization. After surgery, Mom lost her short-term memory and as we worked on orientation to time and place, Tammy joined us with good spirit and patience as we repeatedly answered Mom's questions and tried to help her understand her situation. This was important to us as Mom has been involved in Aging Research and her memory was a source of pride to her.

Another day, Tammy identified a bruising on Mom's abdomen that had not been there the previous day. She advocated for Mom's care with calls to the physicians, updating us on orders, explaining what she was seeing, and answered Mom's questions and ours to provide satisfaction. Because she anticipated a procedure that would require NPO, we delayed in offering food or drink, and we were able to progress in a timely manner with that procedure the same day.

Her nursing skills are exceptional; her assessment of the situation, her flexibility in dealing with the change of the patient condition, communication to family and other staff members inspired us with confidence as she cared for Mom. Tammy emanates a grateful attitude to serve and care for others, brings peace, compassion, and healing to the patient and the family. She was a part of our team and celebrated the moment by moment victories with us. I will be forever grateful for the memories and care of our days in the CCU with Tammy Towles as our nurse.

My mother was in CCU following surgery for colon cancer. On one particular day, Mom was in great pain. Tammy noticed changes in her skin and didn't just treat the pain, but contacted the MD to perform tests and scans to find the problem. Tammy talked to Mom and took care of her so lovingly as if she were her own Mother or Grandmother. My mother was BLESSED to have Tammy. Thank You Tammy!!!!!!
