Mrs. Minkowski will ease a patient who may feel nervous or anxious about the surgery, whether by answering any questions they may have or simply by reassuring and comforting them.
I would like to take the time to tell you about a particularly special RN that stands out in APU/PACU. Mrs. Minkowski is a selfless, compassionate, and caring person. She had made me feel at home from the moment I checked onboard. She has taught me many tricks of the trade, but the one that stands out the most is her exceptional patient care. She will go above and beyond for all of her patients, no matter the circumstance.
Mrs. Minkowski will ease a patient who may feel nervous or anxious about the surgery, whether by answering any questions they may have or simply by reassuring and comforting them. When patients come out of surgery, she makes sure they are as comfortable as they can be to ensure they have a smooth recovery. She always makes sure they are comfortable, warm, and safe. When it's time to be discharged, Mrs. Minkowski will thoroughly go through the surgeon's instructions and will make sure the patient's accompanying person can take care of the patient. I have never seen her be unprofessional towards a coworker or any patient.
Not only does she do everything she can for patients, but she also does the same for staff on the fourth floor. She makes sure no birthday goes unnoticed, orders a cake to the person's specific liking, and makes sure every Active-Duty member departing has a proper send-off and makes sure they feel noticed. I have had countless patients tell me she is an amazing nurse, and returning patients are always glad to see her. Many ask for her to provide care specifically. She has been a big part of how I interact with patients as well as life.
