Taneha Strain, RN, CEN, SANE

Our best friend and partner, Q, spent several days in the MICU at Denver Health, and the most notable nurse who cared for him was Taneha Strain. She cared for him exactly like you would want someone to care for your loved one; she made sure he was so comfortable and paid attention to, and she always spoke so kindly to him and to us.

In the last few days, she gave us a couple of gifts: a picture of Q’s heartbeat in a little vial so that we could get it tattooed one day, and a little heart with his thumbprints inked onto it. It wasn’t needed, but she went out of her way to give us mementos of him we could cling to after he passed away. Taneha was always there for not only him but for his partner and me during our time in the MICU. The amount of kindness, compassion, and friendly attitude she exuded every time she entered the room was so very impactful— beyond what we expected of any nurse during this difficult, grim moment.

Q passed away a little over a week ago now. I will always be so glad that Taneha was on our team and gave him the best care he could possibly receive up to his final moments in the MICU at Denver Health. Thank you so very much.
