Taneka Stewart, RN, stepped up to offer prayer with a crying patient, which gave her a sense of calm and peace.
"She acted from the heart like it was just second nature," her nominator said, who is also her preceptor.
"This struck me for a couple of reasons: first, Taneka has only been here for a week and a half - still getting to know us. Praying is a personal thing that some people may be judgmental about, yet she didn't mind that I was in the room with her. Second, I must admit that I was feeling a bit impatient with this patient, and Taneka's actions touched my heart and reminded me to think with more empathy. I haven't known Taneka for very long, but can tell that Saint Agnes has a wonderful Christian woman, beautiful inside and out. Great addition to our team of nurses!"
