Tanya Fonzo, RN

My 76-year-old husband has been battling pancreatic cancer for the last 18 months. During these trying and difficult months Tanya Fonzo has been his infusion nurse. Tanya has been a breath of fresh air as she administers these meds to my husband. He jokingly says “she is putting the poison in me.” Her knowledge expertise compassion understanding humor and love have been invaluable to both my husband and me his wife and caretaker. My husband has had diarrhea for the last 18 months and Tanya has worked with him (and the Docs) tirelessly to adjust his meds to try and ease his discomfort. She succeeded in doing so! She also researched and found out that adjusting his enzymes before meals could ease the diarrhea. She has made his life so much better. Knowing that she will be there to administer his infusion meds helps to reduce the anxiety he feels upon arriving at the hospital. Tanya is an earth angel and we both feel blessed to have her in our lives. On a side note – I watch with admiration as Tanya interacts with the other patients in the infusion suite with the same expertise care and love as she exhibits with my husband. She is a very special lady!! I would like to nominate Tanya Fonzo for this distinguished award.
