Recently Tanya was caring for a young female patient who was alone, frightened, and with no way to communicate with her family. Once Tanya learned of the circumstances, she allowed the patient to utilize her personal cell phone to contact her family via social media. As soon as they received the message, they called the hospital and were able to connect with the patient. While she was in our department awaiting her family, Tanya arranged for a care package that included monetary donations, clothing, and essentials to take with her as she did not have access to any of these items. This patient did not speak English and Tanya did not speak her language; however, due to Tanya's compassionate ways, they were able to bond.
