A patient presented with an unusual situation. The patient had a cardiac arrest while on a plane and was brought to our ED. Unfortunately, we were unable to resuscitate the patient. After the commotion is when Tanya’s compassion kicked in. The patient’s wife was now alone in a strange place and suffering from a terrible loss. Tanya spent the next couple of hours comforting the patient’s wife. But comforting was not all that she did. Tanya worked tirelessly with the patient’s wife to help make arrangements to get the patient back to his home over 700 miles away. She helped the patient’s wife make alternative arrangements to get back home. Tanya assisted the patient’s wife to contact family and make arrangements for herself until she could get home. This is just one example of the compassion that Tanya shows in her daily work.
