Tanya is an extremely motivated person; she comes to work ready to work and is a model nurse. Tanya loves doing her job and does it expertly and professionally. Tanya has the ability to think on her feet and rapidly progress through her critical thinking skills to ensure positive outcomes for each and every patient she cares for on Transport. Her knowledge speaks volumes of her skills working in a mobile environment. Her passion for Transport nursing is evident in the best and safest care she provides for every patient, from neonates to teens to adults. She is an expert nurse in all age ranges with all different diagnoses which is valuable in her role as a preceptor and mentor. Tanya builds a good rapport with parents keeping them well informed of all that is taking place with their child which helps ease their anxiety during a stressful time and builds confidence in the team caring for their child. Her compassion for the kids she takes care of is clearly seen in her actions and interactions with the patient and their families.
Tanya is always willing to review and teach disease processes with team members and is always pleasant and speaks in terms everyone understands. She makes learning easy and fun. Tanya is able to convey a clear, concise and accurate description of the patient's condition/assessment to the physicians and staff she is interacting with and works collaboratively in developing treatment plans. Tanya is always looking for ways to improve her knowledge and skills and she recently became an advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) instructor. Not only does she keep the team on track, she also teaches and certifies the team in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP.) In addition to education, Tanya is very engaged in the department as seen in actively participating on the scheduling and recognition committees. She is also helps the department by doing charge audits and correcting billing errors that leads to a positive financial impact.
Tanya is an extraordinary nurse, who is a valuable asset to the Transport Team and to Children's. It is a great honor to work with a nurse with such great knowledge and skills and she is most deserving of the DAISY Award.
