Taquitta Watkins, RN

I am a new contract nurse who trained with Taquitta Watkins. She received a new patient, and as she performed a thorough head-to-toe assessment, I saw the confusion on her face while listening to heart sounds. This became her focus along with the chest tube. After the full assessment, she asked the patient if he had a cardiac history, to which he stated no. Taquitta was worried about this patient and spoke to his doctor about particularly focusing on his heart. Orders were put in for the patient's cardiac work-up and a defect was found that required surgery. I was proud of Taquitta's assessment and concern about this patient. He was not admitted for cardiac issues so Taquitta caught a problem while he was in a place where he could be helped.
