Tara Henkelman, RN InPatient Pediatrics
A family member of the patient Tara was taking care of voiced that they were frustrated with her peppy personality. Instead of pawning off that family to a new nurse, Tara decided to work with the family. She sat down with them and the charge nurse and expressed that she wanted to keep taking care of them and found out that they were not really upset with her but that is who they ended up taking their frustrations out on. Tara did a wonderful job of communicating with the family, a situation that might have been overlooked as just a hostile family. In truth they just needed to be sat down with and talked to, in the end the root of the problem was solved. Tara is immensely helpful with families and does her best communicating with them.
