Tara was so very attentive and caring, rolling through the punches, and exuding love and concern.
I’ve heard that all nurses have patients, but not all nurses have patience. And when you add compassion, competence, caring, and consoling, you begin to understand that sincere love for fellow humans that are hurting is the real recipe for healing. In today’s days when everyone is wearing a mask, it can take away from the welcoming smiles that comfort the hurting. But the eyes are the mirror to the soul. It was immediately evident that the light and heart in the eyes of our nighttime nurse, Tara, were so warm from the moment we met her. When you can “see” love from a person you only just met, you just know you will be blessed and will be well taken care of. Tara was so very attentive and caring, rolling through the punches, and exuding love and concern. You could see her smile under her mask as she happily addressed your every need. We were never made to feel like we were interrupting or bothering her, like whenever she would leave and we “remembered” something else that needed to be addressed. Or when the IV pump would inevitably “go off” again, immediately after she just left the room. I feel for these nurses having to contend with these less-than-perfect, finicky IV machines. People are generally anxious to go home, but with the kindness and care we received, while we were here, the urgency of that could wait because we felt so attended to and genuinely cared for. Wow! Tara made us “Out of Towners” feel like we are more than welcome to be taken care of, like a local, but more so like family! You could genuinely feel she was on the same team. Honestly, the reality of probably never seeing her again leaves me a little melancholy. You are so blessed to have this amazing caretaker. She is not just another nurse, she is a wonderful, caring human being. Those are the healing people who help hurting people recover!
