Tara Brown was able to reach his family and make arrangements to get the patient on a train back to FL.
A patient was a Bravo Trauma Alert due to an MCV. The patient was driving from CT to his home in FL. During the accident, the patient lost his glasses, phone, and wallet that had money and identification. The Trauma Nurse Lead (TNL) Tara Brown contacted the on-call social worker upon the patient’s discharge. The on-call social worker indicated there was nothing to be done for this patient. Mr. O was unable to remember his medical history and medication. Tara Brown was able to reach his family and make arrangements to get the patient on a train back to FL. For a train ticket, he did not need identification, just a valid ticket. Ms. Brown also purchased clothes for the patient to leave in and reading glasses so he could see. Ms. Borwn made arrangements for the patient to be transported to the train station. His train adventure was over 12 hours long. Mr. and Ms. O called a few days later to say “Thank You” to the people of VA. Mr. O made it home safely! Tara Brown was instrumental in making this all occur. She went above and beyond.
