I am writing to commend Tara, RN, on the day shift in the neurosurgery unit, for the exceptional care she provided me during my recent postoperative stay. On postop day 1, I experienced significant pain and anxiety, compounded by an exacerbation of PTSD from my combat service. Tara's calm, confident presence made a profound difference. She was attentive, proactive, and deeply compassionate, anticipating my needs before I could voice them and advocating for me when I was unable to advocate for myself. Her professionalism and humanity were exactly what one hopes for in such a vulnerable moment, especially when the nurse becomes a patient. As a master 's-prepared clinical nurse educator with over 30 years of clinical experience, I am fairly well qualified to recognize excellence in nursing practice. Tara embodies the very essence of our profession: compassion, advocacy, and a well-grounded, holistic approach to nursing. Her demeanor and dedication reflect the highest standard of patient-centered care.
