Every family is important to Tara. She has made families feel more confident when learning to perform dressing changes on their loved ones. She sits down and answers every question with kindness and compassion, meeting the patient and family on their level.

A long-standing wound care patient has declined with health and is unable to make clinic appointments as easily as he is paraplegic and arrives via an ambulance. Tara meets this family in dialysis weekly, at their convenience to assess wounds, make recommendations and visit with the spouse. She has also encouraged other services to see this patient in dialysis and coordinates care to cluster services for when the spouse is present all while keeping the unit in the loop and seeing her outpatient clinic. She continually reassures and is honest with the patient and spouse. His spouse knows and trusts her, I have heard her say, "No one can touch this would dressing or change it without Tara’s blessing." The family knows that Tara works in the best interest of the patient, family, advocating for their wishes to stay home. She teaches the spouse about dressing and empowers her to advocate for her spouse. This RN goes above and beyond for many of her patients and staff, this is just one example of how amazing she truly is!
