I was told she held my hand throughout the entire procedure. Knowing she continued to provide me comfort when I wasn’t even awake shows what kind of nurse she truly is.
At the end of October, I had the terrible experience of miscarrying a very much-wanted pregnancy. Unfortunately, I had retained products and was sent to the University for a D&C procedure. It was late afternoon, and the women's health procedure clinic was completely booked for the rest of the day. The ASC was also extremely busy, and it would've likely been 8-12 hours before I could get in. I had had a fever the day prior, and my doctor wanted the procedure done as soon as possible. She decided to contact my coworkers on L&D to see if we could do the D&C up there. That's where my angel of a coworker comes in, Tara Carter. She didn't hesitate for a second and brought me up even though they hardly had any rooms available on labor and delivery. She was the charge nurse that day, but she still took me as her patient. She never left my room, and she never made me feel like an inconvenience even though I know the unit was extremely busy. She was also the first person to ever use bacteriostatic saline for my IV placement and I didn't feel a thing. She held my hand as I was put to sleep, and I was told she held my hand throughout the entire procedure. Knowing she continued to provide me comfort when I wasn’t even awake shows what kind of nurse she truly is. She provides comfort both physically and emotionally. She cares above and beyond for her patients without the need for recognition. She's a phenomenal nurse, an amazing coworker, and an even better friend. I wouldn't have been able to get through this awful experience without her care. There is no one more deserving.
