Tara Riley, RN
I would like to commend Nurse Tara Riley for the exceptional care she provided to my wife and our family during one of the most important and stressful moments of our lives: the birth of our daughter. I had the opportunity to observe Tara’s clinical skills, professionalism, and compassionate approach to patient care over the course of two consecutive day shifts while she cared for my wife.
Tara was thoughtful, attentive, and incredibly reassuring throughout our entire experience, making us feel genuinely cared for every step of the way. What stood out most was her outstanding clinical judgment and attention to detail. Shortly after coming on shift the first day, she noticed that my wife’s maintenance IV fluids had remained at the same elevated rate for an extended period and appropriately decreased them, something that could have easily been overlooked during a busy shift change. This level of vigilance reflected the thoroughness with which she approached every aspect of my wife’s care.
Most importantly, Tara recognized my wife’s postpartum hemorrhage immediately and ensured she was taken to the OR in a timely manner for definitive treatment. Her ability to rapidly identify and respond to a potentially life-threatening complication while also keeping the room calm was truly remarkable and made an enormous difference in my wife’s outcome and our family’s experience.
As a physician, I especially appreciated how knowledgeable, calm, and clinically skilled she was under pressure. At the same time, she was also training a new hire, and watching her balance exceptional patient care while teaching and supporting another nurse demonstrated tremendous leadership, professionalism, and patience. She never allowed her attention to detail, compassion, or composure to waver, even in a high-stress situation. We will never forget the care she provided during such a vulnerable and emotional time, and we are deeply grateful for the kindness, expertise, and dedication she showed our family. Tara Riley exemplifies the very best of nursing and is a true DAISY Nurse.
