Heaven gained an Angel last night as we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. But heaven sent us a guardian angel the last three days in the form of an RN named Tara. It meant so much to have Mom cared for by such a special young lady. Tara was a true angel and her heartfelt interactions were so meaningful and settling. We would not have made it through the first night had it not been for Tara and her genuine care, concern, and support. I hope sharing her letter does not cause her embarrassment. It is a perfect example of the kind of nurse and person she is. She left this letter after a very emotional and difficult night with Mom. She passed away later that day. As a retired RN I felt the DAISY Award was designed to honor and recognize the kind of nursing practice she demonstrates effortlessly. Tara, you brought light to darkened days. Don't apologize for your emotions. They only further show your compassion. Never change! Your heart is what makes you the very person our profession needs. Thank you for all you do.
