Tarry is the most patient and kind nurse that I have met. She is smart, nurturing, and caring.
My daughter is a 23 year old diabetic. I was at Kalahari for a conference and she came up to meet me from her college. I called 911 and we were brought here to your hospital and transferred to ICU after she was stable. My child is very, very ill and is not getting better. Tarry is the most patient and kind nurse that I have met. She is smart, nurturing, and caring. She informed me every step of the way and always asked about my needs. I am here alone with my daughter. She has a calming effect when my daughter, N, is agitated. My daughter was on the vent, foley cath, IV line in her neck, antibiotics, heart monitor, and more. She was in a coma when she arrived. Tarry took care of her personal needs as much as needed. If she poops back to back, Tarry gloves up, gets some help, and gets N clean and comfortable again. She has been an advocate for N with the doctors, letting them know what is going on with her and how she has responded and when occurrences happen. Tarry did not hesitate to step in when N was waking up and she was removed from the ventilator and was agitated and confused. She had the calming voice that N needed to hear. This happened on multiple occurrences. N reacted to her calming voice and directions. This was for and during multiple 12 hour shifts. Tarry was not quick to sedate her or to ignore her. She showed true interest in my child and me. She was in the room for comfort as well. Having a sick child is not easy, especially when you seem so helpless to help her. Tarry even sat with her when I had to step away. My family came down from 4 hours away to check on us and Tarry was helpful to them as well. We will never forget the kindness and caring that she has shown to my daughter and myself. Tarry is the example of what all nurses should be. I am a 35 year RN, BSN with a history of ICU, ER, OB, and HHA nursing. I can appreciate her dedication to her profession.

Note: This is Tarry's 2nd DAISY Award!
