Taryn has the biggest heart, and all of our patients love her.
Our regular in-patient RN for wound care went out the week before Christmas for knee surgery and a staff member in the clinic is out on bereavement leave. Taryn is the manager of the outpatient wound clinic and often comes in before the clinic opens and helps out on the Obs unit. I have been covering for the in-patient RN but with the holidays and only being open four days during the next two weeks, I am also still seeing patients in the clinic. Taryn has never complained, she has jumped right in and has been seeing patients in the clinic and helping patients whenever necessary. She has been coming in at 3 am and starts seeing new patients in the hospital.
Taryn has the biggest heart, and all of our patients love her; she started a sock drive for our local area collecting socks for the homeless and people in need. She has also made sure that a patient of ours that is an ex-addict and recently just had a baby had presents for Christmas for herself and her new son and enough diapers to take her well into the new year. She never judges and treats everyone with respect; she is one of the few people I have seen not judge and make these types of patients feel safe and comfortable coming to our clinic. She deserves to be recognized for all the good she does, there are very few nurses in management that would jump in and see patients for you. She truly is amazing and living the UPMC values.
