Nomination Comments:
I would like to nominate Tasha for a DAISY for her professionalism and compassion. We had a very difficult family member. Tasha stepped in, communicated very professionally and compassionately, and was able to diffuse the situation. She did an excellent job with service recovery.
I would like to nominate Tasha Defelice for the DAISY Award. Tasha has been at Hancock Regional Hospital for a little less than 1 year but she has already made a positive impact on all of us. Tasha meets all of the criteria for the DAISY Award. She is compassionate, professional, a team player, shows respect to all that she comes in contact with, serves her patients and co-workers well, and strives for clinical excellence in all that she does. An incident comes to mind when thinking of Tasha that I feel exemplifies a DAISY Award winner. Tasha had a very sick patient who had a catastrophic heart attack. An order was written for a protocol that did not exist. This “protocol” was actually a hypothermic therapy that most of the nurses on the floor had no experience with. Tasha had come from a larger hospital in New York and had some exposure to this therapy. She was very uncomfortable with the physician’s order because there was a lack of protocol and no specific parameters written for this order. Tasha was the utmost professional when she called the ordering physician. She was able to express her concerns for the patient’s safety. Tasha also conveyed her concerns with the lack of adequate education for nurses with this prescribed therapy. The physician took all of this into consideration. I work with Tasha several days a week and really enjoy working with her. She is several years my junior but I always learn something from her. She is very deserving of the DAISY Award.
