Upon getting off the elevator (on the Rehab floor), I noticed an elderly man dressed and carrying his Bible. He was insistent on going to catch the bus to get to church on time. Ms. Ridgeway was directing him to the nurses' station. She stopped and pointed to the clock and told him, "See, it is 7:45 and it is not time for church." The gentleman acknowledged this. She then said, "Why don't you sit up here with me and we can read some scripture." She directed the patient to behind the nurses' station and she sat with the patient reading scripture and singing gospel songs. Later, she even pulled up on the phone his church having services to try to redirect him. I witnessed Ms. Ridgeway showing kindness and compassion for this elderly gentleman.
