The small things make a big difference, and the celebration organized by Tasneem showcased her understanding of the emotional needs of family members going through challenging times.
Tasneem, a registered nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), embodies exceptional potential. She consistently demonstrates kindness, empathy, and genuine care in her role. In addition, she delivers nursing care to her patients and their families holistically, which was clearly evident from her daily work.
In fact, Tasneem has garnered many DAISY Award nominations, all of which emphasize her compassionate care, particularly in her interactions with a patient's family member. These nominations highlight the extraordinary approach that Tasneem consistently brings to her duties, positively impacting those she serves.
The patient's mother wrote on the DAISY Award nomination form, "I am writing to extend my warmest thanks and to nominate Nurse Tasneem for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Her compassionate care during my time at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) had a great influence on me. As a mother, I have been by my child's side during a challenging period in his treatment journey in the Pediatric ICU.
Recently, I graduated from the university. While this achievement brought immense happiness to me, I was unable to attend the graduation ceremony since I was accompanying my child in the hospital. Tasneem went above and beyond during these difficult times to celebrate this significant milestone in my life.
Tasneem planned a lovely ceremony to honor my graduation, full of warmth and compassion. Her thoughtfulness had a great influence on me during a time when happy moments were unusual. Despite the challenging circumstances, she managed to share my excitement and make me feel valued. She brought the graduation gown and cap the graduates wear from the university to make me feel like I was at an actual graduation ceremony.
The small things make a big difference, and the celebration organized by Tasneem showcased her understanding of the emotional needs of family members going through challenging times. In recognition of Tasneem’s extraordinary effort she put into making my graduation memorable, I definitely nominate her for this prestigious award."
A co-worker wrote another DAISY Award nomination regarding the same story that has been mentioned above, "As a physician working in PICU, I have had the privilege of witnessing Tasneem’s outstanding efforts, especially in organizing a memorable graduation celebration for a mother during her time with a child in the hospital.
The patient arrived at KHCC from outside Jordan accompanied by his mother after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The treatment plan was initiated, and he spent more than two weeks in the intensive care unit with his mother at his side. Nurse Tasneem dedicatedly and diligently cared for the patient. She learned that the patient's mother had graduated from university but was not able to attend the graduation ceremony due to being with her son during his hospitalization.
Tasneem decided to surprise everyone and celebrate the mother's graduation dream by organizing a simple celebration inside the unit. Tasneem arrived with a graduation gown, cap, decorations, and sweets, and we all celebrated and shared this unforgettable moment together.
The mother had lived through challenging moments with her child, but Tasneem had shown her love and understanding throughout these difficult times. This positively impacted the mother's psyche, which was evident when she contacted her family outside Jordan to share what Tasneem had done. It had a significant impact on the patient's mother.
Tasneem's actions undoubtedly exemplified the core values of KHCC for our patients and their families. Nurse Tasneem serves as a role model to her colleagues in the PICU, advancing the positive image of the nursing profession. I highly recommend her to be acknowledged by such distinguished honor".
Indeed, Tasneem has demonstrated compassionate nursing care and is truly a DAISY Nurse.
