I am honored to nominate Tate for the DAISY Award in recognition of the incredible support and kindness he shows to new team members in the operating room. Tate consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that orientees feel not only comfortable but truly welcomed into the OR environment—a place that can often feel overwhelming to newcomers.

Recently, I was speaking with a new orientee and asked how their orientation was going and how they felt about meeting the team. Without hesitation, they mentioned Tate by name. They told me that from day one, Tate made them feel at ease—never making them feel uncomfortable for asking questions, no matter how small. That kind of approachability and encouragement can make all the difference to someone trying to find their footing in a new and fast-paced environment. Tate’s ability to create a safe space for learning is a true gift. He patiently takes the time to explain not just the “how” but the “why” behind what we do. He listens, supports, and leads by example—demonstrating the kind of teamwork and compassion that make a lasting impact on everyone around him. His dedication doesn’t just benefit the orientees—it strengthens our entire team and fosters a culture of respect, collaboration, and growth. I’m grateful to work alongside someone like Tate.
