I had been in the hospital for nearly three weeks and had all but given up. During my stay, I experienced good and not-so-good, but when I expectedly ended up in CICU, I met my angel, Taylor. Bedridden and lying flat, I could not do much for myself and no longer felt human. Taylor took the time to listen to me, talk to me, and learn about me more than a surgery patient. She patiently sat beside me and assisted me. Not once did she appear rushed or annoyed. In these moments, I was able to feel human again and not a burden. I regained my will to succeed again. With each interaction, I searched for her angel wings. As I saw her walk down the hallway the second day, I knew that no matter what the day brought, I would be safe.
