Yesterday we had a patient who was coming to clinic who is nearing the end of his life. He was coming in due to some significant pain and nausea he was having and to have some conversations regarding the care goals that he has for the rest of his time. When this appointment was made there were several different orders placed for the patient and Taylor got to work before the patient even got to the floor. She coordinated everything that needed to be done for the patient so that it was all in the room waiting for him. She had every medication labeled and every pump programed ready to go for him. He ended up checking in and coming straight back to the room and Taylor got to work to help ease his pain. Within an hour Taylor had all his medications in and he was finally getting some relief. He was then able to sit on his phone and was able to partake in the discussions regarding the rest of his care. Taylor truly gave him the most excellent care that he could have asked for and allowed him to have some relief during the time he has left with us. Taylor is truly a special nurse!
